Project #4 - Kaleidoscopes

To create the two kaleidoscopes above, I took one picture of a heavily graffitied wall and one picture of a pumpkin resting in some succulents. I edited the first image to portray a dark and menacing look by increasing the contrast and emphasizing the reds. The pumpkin was too perfect to edit.

The Eight Techniques

 Rule of Thirds My inspiration for this photo was the overwhelming amount of blue I saw in the scene, despite not much blue being there at all. To solve that, I edited the photo to show what I saw in the scene. I wanted to emphasize the mailboxes amongst a blue road and dismal gray buildings, so I incorporated the technique "rule of thirds". I believe this photo was the best representation of the rule of thirds technique because the other two did not show it as clearly. Frame Within a Frame When coming across this setting, I immediately had an idea on what I wanted to do with it. The darkness of the garage combined with the color pallet of the scene inspired me to take a photo of this setting. Framing and Composition Contact Sheet

Photographers tend to use contact sheets such as these to provide the viewer an organized format for them to view all the photos as a collective project. To do this, I arranged my collection in order in a grid form with top/bottom margins of 1.0" and left/right margins of 0.75". Because of the lengths of some of the captions, the sizing and placement of the photos had to be compromised, making it look slightly messy. Despite this inconvenience, all the photos are in order and are relatively tidy.
